Roxas City's MRWD assures ample water supply
Roxas City -- The Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) has ample supply of water for nearby municipalities in addition to its existing service areas in the province.
This was recently announced by MRWD Interim General Manager Pablo Bercilla in the water district's weekly blocktime radio program over Bombo Radyo – Roxas.
"Some towns have already signified interest for the MRWD's water supply," said Bercilla of the prospected towns considered for service expansion by the water district.
The MRWD is currently serving Roxas City as well as the municipalities of Panay, Panit-an, and Ivisan. It also supplies water to Sigma town for distribution through the municipality's local water system.
The adequate potable water supply for Capiceños years from now is a result of the completion of the water district's water supply system improvement and expansion project at Paslang in Barangay Salocon, Panitan town.
In August, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo graced and led the inauguration of the completed water treatment plant (WTP) which produces 30,000 cubic meters of potable water per day, and serves some 200,000 individuals in the water district's service area.
The President's 10-point agenda include the provision of clean and potable water to some 42,000 barangays all over the country.
The project, dubbed as "Patubig ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo" became operational in December 2003, but was officially included in the President's 10-point pro-poor agenda in 2004.
It has now gained significant milestones with more than 130,000 households in 188 municipalities outside Metro Manila now enjoying adequate access to clean water. (PIA)
