Tribes to 'invade' Sinadya sa Halaran
Roxas City -- Ten local merrymaking tribes have signed up for the Tribe Competition which will be one of the highlights of this year's Sinadya sa Halaran festival which reels off Dec. 5 here.
To compete in the tribes showdown are Roxas City's "Alikabok," "Alupihan," "Kitahanon," "Tribu Dos," "Sabay Tayo," "Timbok" and "Gimmick" and "Bort Bart" of Jamindan, "Ubay" of Dumalag and "Pinamilya" of Ivisan.
The tribes will each have no less than 40 warriors and 20 drummers and will be allowed to perform up to 10 minutes.
Frank Alvarez, event head for the activity, said the competitors will vie for cash prizes of P40,000 for the champion, P30,000 for the first runner-up, and P20,000 for the second runner-up.
The overall chair of the activity is Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Member Greg Arcenas with Dennis Bediones as co-chair.
They will be judged according to the following criteria: Music, 30%; Costume, 30%; and Choreography, 40%.
Opening salvo will be on Dec. 5 with a whole-day merry making on Dec. 6 and the final competition on Dec. 7.
Sinadya sa Halaran, Capiz's premier cultural and religious festival, will be held Dec. 5-8 to showcase the Capiceños' rich cultural heritage, way of life and religiosity. (PIA)
