LTFRB to run after 'colorum' vehicles in Iloilo airport
A team from the Land Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will be fielded at the Iloilo Airport of International Standard to minimize if not to totally wipe out the operation of "colorum" vehicles that normally charge excessive fares.
LTFRB Regional Director Porfirio Clavel said the team will be headed by Atty. Rommel Duron. They will run after all the colorum vehicles, from taxis to vans, operating as "for hire" vehicles without a franchise. At present, he could not say on how many "colorum" vehicles are operating without a franchise.
Clavel said they have already made coordination with Air Transportation Office (ATO) chief Allan Java regarding the deployment of LTFRB team next month.
He said the fielding of LTFRB personnel is meant to stop excessive fare collection from the riding public especially from the visiting tourists in this coming Holiday season. This is to protect the commuters from unscrupulous drivers. LTFRB has no control over the "colorum" vehicles that operates in the airport.
He said they will also seek assistance from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
With the forthcoming drive against colorum vehicles, Clavel expect opposition and adverse reactions from taxi operators. However, the LTFRB is confident that the enforcement will run smoothly with the assistance of LTO and other government agencies.
