Architecture plays a big role in living. From the basic purpose of providing shelter through our homes to edifices that are symbols of progress in an area.
So, it's just right that the National Architecture Week will be celebrated yearly.
From Dec. 3 to 7, 2007, an exhibit of the designs of Iloilo's famous architects is at the SM City Iloilo's ground floor. This is the project of the United Architects of the Philippines and Philippine Institute of Architects in cooperation with the Department of Architecture of the University of San Agustin and Western Visayas College of Science and Technology.
Some works by students of Architecture
It carries the theme, "Muling Pagtanaw Sulyap sa Mga Pundamental ng Arkitekturang Pilipino."
Some architects that are featured are GH Hisancha, James Gonzaga, Rudolfo Depatillo and BASE (Builders, Architects, Safety Engineers and Construction Managers).
In his speech, Architect Manuel Tingzon Jr. said that Filipinos are very good architects. The diversity of our culture has made us easily adapt to different architectures.
It was also learned that the UAP is collaborating with the municipality of Pavia in terms of the latter's designs and plans.
This is the 36th exhibit by the said group.
