Christmas around the world
Tribu Taga-Jaro from Jaro National High School
We were children once again as we all watched in awe and chorused our ohs and ahs as we witnessed the spectacular fireworks display during the opening of Christmas Around the World at the carpark of Robinsons Place Iloilo last Nov. 28, 2007.
After this long and rare display, we were treated to information on how Christmas is celebrated in countries like Australia, Africa, United States of America, China, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain, Hawaii, South Korea, France, India and the Philippines. Huge dolls were made to move by machines as Christmas songs in their language are being sung. At the back of each doll is an architecture that represents its country. For example, the USA featured the Grand Canyon; China, Great Wall; Rome, Colloseum; Australia, Opera House; and France, the Eiffel Tower.
This opening signaled the nightly shows at the carpark until Jan. 4, 2008. There are two shows --- 6 pm and 7 pm nightly.
This is Robinsons Place Iloilo's way of bringing the Ilonggos to other places as they visit the mall and for them to feel the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas Around the World is co-presented by Coca-Cola Phils Inc., Mang Inasal, Original Biscocho Haus and GMA TV-6 Iloilo.
