Ma. Aiza Joy Clarito answers the call of volunteerism
Ma. Aiza Joy Clarito
There are young people who have the passion for volunteerism. Ma. Aiza Joy Clarito, 22, is one of them.
Aiza has been an active member-volunteer of the Hi Y Club of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA – Iloilo) for six years now. She started when she was in her second year in high school.
She is the daughter of Lt. Col. Medardo Clarito Sr. and Arselina Clarito.

Ramon C. Salvilla (RCS): Why did you joined the Hi Y Club?
Aiza Joy Clarito (AJC): Well, at first, because it was an incentive posed by teachers Nenita Calaor and Nordy Siason.

RCS: I understand you also convinced your brothers to join.
AJC: Yes. I invited them to attend the fellowship and they liked it.
RCS: Are you parents supportive?
AJC: Yes.
RCS: What is "volunteerism" for you?
AJC: Serving wholeheartedly in your own little way without expecting anything in return.
RCS: What are the challenges posed before you in this choice?
AJC: The need to be patient.
RCS: I saw that you even assisted in a circumcision activity.
AJC: Yes, but I don't mind. I'm used to it already. Trabaho lang, walang personalan.

RCS: How were you readied for this task?
AJC: I attended seminars on volunteer sharing and student leadership.
RCS: How does it feel to be a volunteer?
AJC: Overwhelming.
RCS: What's the most memorable community work you've done?
AJC: The one in the Aeta community in Malay, Aklan.
RCS: What good has joining the Hi Y Club brought to you?
AJC: I meet a lot of people. I was able to develop my leadership and interpersonal skills. My self-esteem was enhanced.
