Kabankalan City named Greenest and Cleanest City in Region 6
BACOLOD CITY -- Kabankalan City in southern Negros Occidental was named the Greenest and Cleanest City in Western Visayas region for the year 2007 by the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran Project.
Eddie Yap, Kabankalan information officer, said the award was received by Ann Zayco Lacson, daughter of Kabankalan mayor Pedro P. Zayco, during the "Pagdayaw" Award Ceremony on Continuing Excellence of Governance held at the Sarabia Manor Convention Center in Iloilo City last week.
"The city was also first runner-up in the Cleanest Public Rest Room in Region 6. It was also given Pee-Stops accreditation by the Women in Travel Bacolod City Chapter headed by Luci Lizares-Yunque last year," Yap said.
Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Evelyn Trompeta with regional director Edwin Trompeta of Department of Tourism 6; Joy Maridette Madayag, Negros Occidental DILG; provincial director, lawyer Anthony Nuyda, DILG assistant regional director and Belden Bedayo, local government operation manager of Kabankalan, led the awarding cereminies.
Kabankalan has won the award and slated to become a Hall of Famer if it can retain its title next year, he said. (PNA)
