St. Paul University Iloilo holds Christmas party
The Sisters Of St. Paul Of Chartres
* The plump pop of the evening was the musical Broadway performance of Sister George Siriban's group that won the accolade of the judges, thus declared the winner over seven others.
Reverend Sisters of St. Paul University Iloilo and St. Paul Hospital are not only musical talented but also band instrument aficionados. In a well-attended Christmas Party program at SPUI gym last Saturday, Dec. 21, 2007, the religious sisters displayed their talents, to the delight of the guests. The audience was composed of academic mentors and staff.
SPUI President Sor Carolia Agravante, who played a rainstick, led the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres in rendering melodious Christmas music. Sor Helen Mabunay adeptly played the organ while Sor Evelyn Aguilar's virtuoso hands handled the drums. Sor Glynee Panganiban and Sor Ma. Linda Tanalgo played the electric guitar proficiently.

Sor Veronica Borbon beat the triangle expertly. Sor Gemma Moralita handled the banduria; Sor Wilson Laxina with the maracas; Sor Clotilde Gumban, the rainstick; Sor Lolita Wong, violin; Sor Donatillo Torres, bongoa while Sisters Carolina Agravante, Adelina Portillo, Cathrine Guian, Claire Escanan, Hazel Tabada and Agnes Evarola sang. The sisters' band can equal that of Aeges, an all-female band seen on TV.
The university's staff and personnel sang some quick-witted Christmas carols. The duet of Wynn Natividad, a soprano and Hermas Pacificador, a tenor, caused a thunderous applause from the audience. Wynn rivaled the coloratura voice of Charlotte Church and Hermas duplicated the tenor of Pavarotti. The duo thundered through the spacious gym of the school.

The College of Nursing performers under Sor Agravante rendered their best Christmas carol songs but they were outwitted by Sister George's participants.
The most awaited and happiest surprise of the Christmas party was the distribution of P1,000 cash gift, one sack of rice, calendars and umbrellas.
