PDEA monitors 6 drug groups, 400 pushers in Western Visayas
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is monitoring six big time drug groups in Western Visayas. It is also monitoring 400 pushers through out the six provinces of the region.
PDEA Regional Director Police Supt. Roybel Sanchez, without divulging the identities of the drug groups and pushers, said that 20 of the personalities are in Iloilo City.
He also said that they are tightening their watch in the Ro-Ro (Roll on, Roll off) ports especially since the famous Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo is fast approaching. It has been noted that drug pushers are also taking advantage of the influx of the people for the merrymaking.
There are shorelines that are being monitored by PDEA as possible entry point for drugs in the region.
Shabu, which has a current market price of P5,000-P7,000 per gram, is still the most in demand illegal drug in Western Visayas.
It is followed by marijuana which is being sold for P12,000 per kilo or P20-P25 per gram. (PNA)
