A grand Christmas celebration for persons with disabilities
For the first time, persons with disabilities from Western Visayas gathered for a grand Christmas celebration last Dec. 23, 2007 at SM City Iloilo. Some 450 persons came, including government officials like Board Member and Committee on Social Welfare Services Chairman Jett Rojas and Nenette Pador.
Rojas said that persons with disabilities continue to persist and lead fruitful lives. He said that there are 12,000 of them who are registered in his office, while more are still unaccounted for.
The celebration included musical presentations from the Ulikid Foundation, Asssociation of Disabled Persons of Iloilo, Inc. and delegates from the province of Antique as well as gift-giving courtesy of Unitruck, which donated 300 gift packs consisting of toys, rice and groceries.
The celebration's theme was "Ikaw Kag Ako, Regalo sang Ginuo." (Kathy M. Villalon)
