Painting the Joy of Christmas culminates
Every year, Bigby's Cafe joins the Filipino people in celebrating Christmas through sharing. This is why during December 2007, Bigby's Cafe brought back its "Paint a Christmas Window" event.
It started in Christmas 2004 with the idea of giving customers a way to personally spread the holiday cheer to all. Painted on their glass windows are small boxes where anybody could paint any Christmas message that they like. This has became popular among the diners.
Based on the success of this, by Christmas 2005, this was made into a fund raising activity benefiting local children charities. Amazingly, the guests came in with bags willed with books, toys, clothes and so much more.
The painting on the Christmas window has become a yearly tradition at Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant. It made ABS-CBN's Bantay Bata 163 as its partner in this event. Joeiline Joy Silda, resource mobilization officer of Banta Bata 163 Iloilo and the rest of its staff, welcomed this project believing that it will make a difference in the lives of the children under their care.
The theme last year was "Paint the Joy of Christmas."
Last Dec. 31, 2007, the project culminated with a Christmas party for the Bantay Bata 163 wards. By then, the windows were already filled with paintings and lots of gifts await the children.
Bigby's prepared a sumptuous merienda to the delight of the kids and members of the media. The party lasted for three hours, with the children goofing around with Roel Edralin, Bigby's marketing manager; Grace Solinap, Bantay Bata 163 program director; and members of the media.
