Mikey Arroyo to grace Cadiz 34th Dinagsa Festival
BACOLOD CITY -- Cadiz City, the fishing capital of Negros Occidental, will mark its 34th Dinagsa Festival from January 19-27.
Mayor Salvador Escalante said Presidential son and Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel M. Arroyo and other national officials will be gracing the Dinagsa Festival, which has this year's theme: "Sanyog Cadiz sa karon kag sa Tanan nga Tion" (Progressive Cadiz now and in the future).
The holding of this festival is in honor of Senor Sto. Nino (Holy Child Jesus). The celebration features a fluvial parade, where the image of the Holy Child Jesus is being carried aboard a fishing boat that is lavishly decorated with flowers.
The feast is highlighted by Dinagsa (Ati-Atihan) contest showcasing eight tribes garbed in their colorful and outlandish costumes reflecting the artistry, craftsmanship and ingenuity of the Cadiznons, dance to the fast and deafening beats of drums while carrying the image of their Holy Child Jesus.
There will also be games and sports competitions, beauty pageants, and dog show.(PNA)
