PDEA crackdown nabs Roxas City's top drug suspect
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's crackdown on the illegal drug trade in Western Visayas has resulted to the arrest Wednesday night of a high profile drug suspect in Roxas City.
Assisted by the Regional Special Operations Group of the police regional office six, the PDEA arrested Oniel B. Arandez at around 8 pm during a buy-bust operation at the Oceanside Family Suite in Roxas City in Capiz.
Arandez is number one on the PDEA's watchlist of suspected big time drug pushers in Roxas City. Recovered from Arandez was a big plastic bag believed to be containing shabu and five P100-peso bills which served as marked money.
The police regional crime laboratory is conducting a test on the substances recovered from Arandez. A member of the RSOG who asked not to be identified said that Arandez personally delivered the items to the police poseur buyers at the said inn.
A search following the arrest revealed three additional sachets containing shabu in the possession of Arandez.
The PDEA is set to file charges for violation of section five of Republic Act 916 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 Arandez.
Arandez' arrest comes a week after the PDEA and the RSOG nabbed Jun Diestro in Mandurriao this city.
Recovered from Diestro were shabu worth at least P25,000, dried marijuana leaves, and firearms. Diestro is in the PDEA's watchlist of regional drug personalities.
