PIA 6 now accepts IWAG award nominations
The regional office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) is now accepting nominations for its top award for excellence in development journalism from among school paper editors and writers, for the year 2008.
PIA Regional Director Atty. Janet Mesa said PIA has been conferring the IWAG award to qualified school paper writers in recognition of their performance in making development journalism apply to their stories and articles in their publications.
She said the IWAG Award is an incentive PIA gives to campus paper writers who have not only written well on development issues but have also been participating in the PIA-sponsored basic journalism seminars conducted every year.
The IWAG Award is for graduating College and High School paper editors/staff writers who have written at least five (for college) and three (for High School) articles on development efforts/programs of the government published in their papers for school years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.
The nominees must have participated in writing competitions/seminars and related community activities and have good academic records, besides the fact that he/she has passed the screening done in their schools.
