February is Civil Registration Month
As stated under Proclamation No. 682 by then President Corazon Aquino on 28 January 1991, February is dubbed as Civil Registration Month. The National Statistics Office, in its nationwide range, is required to conduct several activities in relation to civil registration for the whole month. This years theme is: "Tamang Rehistro Daan sa Kinabukasan Mo".
Under the leadership of Regional Director Norman Julag-ay, the office has lined up the following activities to be conducted:
— Information Dissemination Forum on Civil Registration to be conducted on different national high schools and colleges/universities in the city;
— Distribution of civil registration flyers to schools as well as on different establishments and other government agencies;
— A seminar for school civil registrars to give them a clearer view of the importance of civil registration as well as the right procedures involved in terms of obtaining such documents and on having such corrected;
— An exhibit on one of the malls in the city showing civil registration information for the public to see;
— An information desk manned by a CRS staff placed at the DFA and PRC;
— A slideshow presentation at one of the cable channels in the city showing important information on civil registration.
— Television and radio guestings by the Regional Director as well as the CRS Supervisor to give about information about civil registration;
Such activities, the office believes, will bring about ample information and knowledge about the importance of civil registration and the vitality of civil registry documents. (Ma. Karenz O. Quimsing)
