PNP to put up neighborhood network watch in Boracay
BORACAY ISLAND -- Anticipating the influx of tourists for the forthcoming Holy Week and summer season, the Philippine National Police (PNP) are activating the neighborhood network watch here to ensure peace and order for both foreign and local tourists.
Sr. Supt. Benigno Durana, provincial police director, said the neighborhood network watch aims to seek the support of stakeholders and residents in this resort island to immediately provide information to the police whenever there is peace and order concern in their respective areas.
With this development, newly-appointed Presidential Assistant for Boracay Affairs Police General Virtus Gil is currently studying the peace and order situation in this resort island with the upcoming peak season.
"I already discussed with General Gil the peace and order concerns here. These include the full implementation of one entry and one exit policy in this island," Durana said.
Meanwhile, Durana urged tourists to do their share in keeping peace and order in Boracay. Durana gave the following reminders: 1) avoid bringing too much cash and jewelries while swimming at the front beach, 2) bring a buddy when strolling at night for security purposes, 3) make use of a security box provided by the resort upon leaving their rooms, and 4) be security conscious.
