DFA 6 issues an average of 400-500 new passports daily
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Regional Office 6 is issuing an average of 400-500 machine readable passport (MRP) a day.
DFA Regional Director Victor Española said that with their five new machines in place, they are now able to process and issue faster the MRPs, which replaced the formerly green passports.
The MRPs have enhanced features that could not be easily tampered but could be easily accessed by the passport holder for the necessary information.
Iloilo Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. was the first one who availed of MRPs launching in Western Visayas.
Española said that the DFA personnel are now accepting applications for the new passport.
Española also asked local government units (LGUs) to avail of the mobile passport service.
He said that this year they are intensifying the conduct of the mobile passport service and that LGUs can make their request for it.
Española said that DFA will conduct mobile passporting in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on March 7 to 8; March 14-15 in Sibalom, Antique, and March 28-29 in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Last January 25-26, the DFA conducted also mobile passporting in Pandan, Antique. (PNA)
