Papers, posters on gender trends in fisheries development urged
The National Network on Women in Fisheries in the Philippines, Inc.(NNWFPI) is calling on researchers, extension workers, fisheries professionals, students and other sectors interested, to present papers and posters, for its Fourth National conference on Gender and Fisheries Development, on May 21-23, 2008.
The NNWFPI is inviting presenters whose studies aim to improve lives and empower individuals in the fisheries sector, highlighting the significant role of men and women actively involved in fisheries and development, as well as gender issues in fishing communities in the Philippines.
The conference, which will be held in Seameo Innotech, Quezon City, will have sessions on Capture Fisheries, Aquaculture, Alternative Livelihood in Fishing communities, Fish processing, Product Enhancement and marketing, Gender, Biodiversity and the Environment, Impacts of Globalization on Gender and Fisheries, and Gender and Fisheries Policy.
Abstract of the papers should contain a maximum of 300 words, submitted to the secretariat as an e-mail attachment through e-mail address women.in.fisheries@gmail.com, deadline of which should be April 14, 2008.
The full paper should be well-organized, concise and should include the title, author/s, agency, address, rationale, objectives, methods, discussions of results, conclusions and recommendations. The maximum length of the full paper is 3,000 words, about 10 pages, including tables, figures and references.
The posters should have the following specifications: size is 24 inches x 48 inches, tarpaulin and portrait. Deadline for the papers is May 7, 2008. (PIA 6/ESS)
