DENR prepares for nationwide caravan in observance of World Earth Day
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here is gearing for the slated nationwide people's caravan in observance of the World Earth Day that will pass Western Visayas on April 8-12.
DENR regional executive director Lormelyn E. Claudio said the people's caravan that will last for 18 days will serve as avenue for their office's intensive information and education campaign, especially on how to mitigate climate change.
"The caravan will pass through regions, provinces, cities and municipalities nationwide and alongside we will be informing the public of various programs and projects of the government that are being undertaken by our office," she said.
The caravan in Western Visayas will kick off at San Carlos City and will pass through cities of Sagay, Victorias and Bacolod City all in Negros Occidental.
From there the group will proceed to the Lombija Wildlife Park in Guimaras and pass by the province's provincial capitol.
After Guimaras, the team will have a tour of Iloilo City, visit Bulabog Putian National Park in Dingle and exit at Passi City and travel towards Dumarao and Roxas in Capiz.
The team will again travel to Malay, Aklan passing through the municipalities of Kalibo towards Pandan, Antique through Buruangan and back to Caticlan in Malay.
Participating groups from Western Visayas will be joined by delegates from Central Visayas in San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.
They will converge in Kalibo, Aklan together with the delegation from Region IV-B and proceed to Caticlan, Malay also in Aklan.
"We invite the public to join us in all our convergence activities and create awareness on the significance of protecting our Mother Earth," Claudio added. (PNA)
