NFA prepares for distribution to food-for-school expansion areas in Iloilo
The National Food Authority (NFA) is now preparing for the distribution of the 35-day rice requirement to their food-for-school expansion areas in Iloilo province.
NFA Iloilo director Heddy Jardeleza said the agency in the province is now in the midst of their preparation for the distribution of rice to the pre-school children.
Jardeleza has assured that the expansion areas will receive their allocation even if the school year is now about to end.
"As soon as we receive the repacked rice from the National Capital Region (NCR), we will already start the distribution," the NFA official said.
Jardeleza said that they have to wait for the repacked rice from the NCR because of the realignment of the allocation to Iloilo province.
The NFA official said the expansion areas in Iloilo province are San Joaquin, Miag-ao and Igbaras in the first district; Leon and Alimodian in the second district; Janiuay, Calinog and Lambunao in the third district; Anilao, San Enrique, Passi City and Dingle in the fourth district; Ajuy, Balasan, Barotac Viejo, Carles and Concepcion in the fifth district.
The expanded areas is a result of the successful implementation of the food-for-school program in the initial eight municipalities in Iloilo province in terms of mitigating hunger and malnutrition among the Day Care pupils and other pre-schoolers.
Through this food-for-school program also, the parents of Day Care pupils have been encouraged to send their children to school in lieu of the one kilo of rice in exchange of their one day attendance in school. (PNA)
