Farmers' federation holds congress in Negros Occidental
Bacolod City -- Negros Occidental Federation of Farmers Association held their provincial congress recently with more than 100 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries came from the different People's Organization in 6 cities and 12 municipalities in the province. The congress is centered on the theme "Padayon nga Paghimakas, Paghiliusa kag Pagtib-ong sang Kauswagan sa Kaumhan".
Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer I Dr. Gideon Yongque Jr. urged the different PO's to help push for the extension of CARP since some of them were not yet awarded their CLOAs and installed.
"DAR has not stopped giving out assistance to our ARBs especially in our support services packages. We assist them to organize themselves into cooperatives guiding them to access funds to finance their initial activities as small landowners, assessing them their level of development if they can already be weaned from the shadow of DAR and other line agencies," PARO Yongque said.
Support services came in packages like infrastructures, farm to market roads, pre and post harvest facilities, irrigation system, overflow roads, fertilizers, livelihood, and even scholarship grants to ARBs children. (DAR/PIA)
