Ombudsman Caravan of Government Services goes to Antique
San Jose, Antique – The Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas headed by Deputy Ombudsman Pelagio S. Apostol will bring their services to the Province of Antique on April 3-4, 2008.
Evangeline Nuñal Associate Graft Investigation Officer I during their coordination meeting with the Provincial Information Office and the Philippine Information Agency said that their services do not only include investigation of anomalies and inefficiencies but they also render public assistance and graft prevention.
Among the activities they will conduct on April 3 are Forum on Corruption Prevention with socio-civic and religious organizations who will be their partners in the fight against graft and corruption, meeting with municipal mayors and press conference with different media practitioners in the province which will be aired over a local radio station.
On April 4, the Office of the Ombudsman with partner agencies such as Departments of Environment and Natural Resource, Agriculture, Public Works and Highways, Social Welfare and Development, Land Transportation Office, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, National Food Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and National Statistics Office will have a caravan of services at the EBJ Memorial Auditorium, Del. Angel Salazar Memorial School, San Jose. The Antiqueños are enjoined to avail of the services of the concerned government agencies.
Medical and Dental Mission will also be conducted at Brgy. Durog, San Jose as identified by the Rural Health Unit. The Office of the Ombudsman will also conduct Public Accountability Seminar with the Barangay Officials of San Jose.
As Protectors of the people, the Office of the Ombudsman is mandated to act promptly on complaints filed in any form or manner against officers and employees of the government and enforce their administrative, civil and criminal liability in every case where the evidence warrants in order to promote efficient service by the government to the people.
The mission statement of the Office of the Ombudsman is expressed that as protectors of the people it shall endeavor, in cooperation with all sectors of the Filipino society to promote integrity and efficiency and high ethical standards in public service through proactive approaches in graft prevention and public assistance, prompt investigation of complaints and aggressive prosecution of cases filed against erring public officials and employees.
