CTO to collect P1.1M amusement tax from Leah Salonga concert
The City Treasurer's Office (CTO) will still collect the P1,135,000 amusement tax they computed earlier for the organizer of the Leah Salonga concert.
This came after the Sangguniang Panglungsod committee on ways and means denied the motion for reconsideration asked by the concert organizer.
CTO chief Katherine Tingson said they will collect the P1,135,000 amusement tax as what has been computed earlier by the treasurers office.
Tingson said there is no instruction from the city council to reduce the amount after the Sangguniang Panlungsod denied the motion filed by the concert organizer to exempt them from paying the amusement tax.
The CTO furnished the City Legal Office a copy of the collection letter for action after Javellana refused to receive the collection letter sent though the Postal Office. The CTO has already in hand a copy of a certification which manifest the refusal of the receiver to acknowledge such communication, said Tingson.
The treasurer's office will wait for the decision of the legal office on how to collect the amount. It is up for the legal office to initiate any legal moves against the organizer should they continue to refuse and acknowledge the decision of the council denying their plea to exempt them from paying the amusement tax, said Tingson.
