President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo earlier called on the faith-based community to help the government deliver rice to those most in need.
"The government is sparing no effort to ensure that our supplies get from their source to the tables of Filipinos throughout the nation," the President said.
The President said that the government is going to enlist the faith-based community, namely the churches and mosques, to deliver relief to the poor in terms of essential supplies of rice and other basic commodities.
She called on the private sector, civil society and the faith-based community to work with the government in helping the poor.
The President stressed that "in all the efforts we exert, what is more important is unity and cooperation from all sectors." (PIA)
