City health board reorganized
The Iloilo City Health Board has been reorganized for a forceful implementation of the various health programs here.
In an executive order issued by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, the city health board now has city health officer Urminico Baronda Jr. as vice-chairman and Councilor Erwin Plagata of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Mary Joy Castroverde of the Department of Health, Iloilo Medical Society president Henry Tupas, Dean of the WVSU College of Medicine Victoria Villareal, Dean of the IDC College of Medicine Alejandro Rivera Jr., and non-government organization representative Louie Tirador as members. Barbara Hortillo of the City Health Office was likewise designated as head of the board's secretariat.
Treñas, also the chairman of the board, said that besides the effective pursuit of the city's health programs, the reorganization was also done to recognize the new presidents and authorized representatives of the various medical colleges and organizations here and their potential contributions to the city's health efforts.
The functions of the board include serving as advisory committee to Treñas regarding health programs that may be undertaken and to assist in monitoring and implementing these health programs; propose to the Sangguniang Panlungsod annual budgetary allocations for operation and maintenance of the city's health facilities and services, and to create subcommittees that may counsel local health agencies regarding related concerns and issues.
