500 engineers attending PICE reg'l technical conference
BACOLOD CITY -- Some 500 engineers from different Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) chapters in Western Visayas are attending the 6th Region VI Technical Conference on April 18-19, 2008 at Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City.
Engr. Lea N. Delfinado, president of PICE-Negros Occidental Chapter (NOC) said PICE-NOC is hosting the conference, with the theme "PICE: Advocating Innovation, Ingenuity and Dynamism of Professional Practice".
Members from the six participating chapters namely, Negros Occidental, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and San Carlos-Negros Occidental (in various government departments, agencies and offices), construction companies, consulting firms, colleges and universities are attending during the event.
Technical sessions on recent innovations regarding the civil engineering profession are expected to take place during the event.
The program includes a series of talks regarding Construction Arbitration, Earthquake Engineering, Water Resources, Flood Control and Structural Design-Retrofitting.
To be discussed on the first day is the recent related publications such as the Manual of Professional Practice and the Water Code of the Philippines on the second day.
In addition, fellowship and entertainment activities are also prepared by the PICE-NOC in the duration of the event. (PNA)
