New Iloilo Airport to implement increase in fees and charges
The Air Transportation Office (ATO) recently held another public hearing for the proposed increases in fees and charges at the New Iloilo Airport in Cabatuan.
One of the major proposals is the increase of the Domestic Passenger Terminal fee from the present P30.00 to P150.00.
Other services whose present rates or charges will likewise be increased are
aeronautical fees (landing and take-off, parking and lighting fees for planes); space rentals at the passenger terminal building and the cargo terminal building (including use of VIP lounges and other airport buildings); utilities (electric/power, telephone and water fees); vehicular (parking fees for all vehicles); ground handling services (use of ramp facilities); and advertisements (signboards, billboards, posters, streamers within airport premises).
All airport concessionaires will also be asked to pay a concession privilege fee on top of their monthly rentals.
Groups or individuals posing objections to the increases during the hearing were asked to present their respective position papers to the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Air Transportation Office –VI within 15 days of the hearing for study.
Present during the hearing were ATO chief and TWG chair Alan Java, members of the TWG, and representatives of various airport concessionaires.
Java announced that the implementation of the proposed increases will be done in six (6) months time. He said that the last time the airport raised its fees and charges was in 1999 when it was still located at the Mandurriao district. (PIO)
