Pinoy rowers rule dragon boat race
Rowers from the Philippines ruled four of the six events in the recent Fila 2nd Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival held at the world-famous island-resort.
In the 300-meter race, Tribu Cam Sur topped the men's event clocking at 1 minute,12 seconds and 50 milliseconds. It also won the mixed race at 1 minute, 13 seconds and 91 milliseconds. The women's race was won by Hong Kong's Stormy Dragons (1 minute and 25 seconds).
Philippine rowers also nearly swept the 500-meter race.
The Bugsay Boracay team won the women's event clocking at 2 minutes, 22 seconds and 12 millisecond while the Philippine National Police Patriots bagged the mixed race with a time of 2 minutes, 3 seconds and 50 milliseconds.
Germany's Wann Sea Dragons topped the men's event at 2 minutes, 7 seconds and 60 milliseconds.
The event, organized by the Boracay Island Paddlers Association (Bipa), Municipality of Malay and the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation drew around 1,00 rowers and around 50 teams from the Philippines, Australia, Germany, Hongkong, Macau, Singapore and the United States.
