TESDA conducts PESFA qualifying exams in Iloilo City
The Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is now conducting qualifying exams for students who are interested to avail of the Private Education Students Financial Assistance (PESFA) program.
TESDA Iloilo provincial director Lorena Yunque said that there are 2,000 slots in Western Visayas which are available for students who could qualify under the PESFA program.
The PESFA is a program to benefit poor but deserving students who have the general average of 80 per cent in their high schools and have good moral character.
Students who are interested to take the qualifying exam will have to contact the TESDA office or go to their respective congressional districts to inquire about the schedules of the exams.
However, TESDA has already conducted the qualifying exam last Apr 29 in Iloilo City, Iloilo Fifth District last May 6, Iloilo Fourth District today and Iloilo First District Thursday and Iloilo Second District on May 9.
A student who could qualify in the PESFA program would be able to receive partial assistance in the amount of P10,000-P12,000 depending on the total amount for their tuition fee and living allowance.
Students must be enrolled in technical-vocational courses registered by TESDA such as Health Care Services, Maritime Electronics, Commercial Cooking and Computer Secretarial.
Yunque said that TESDA defrays only partial amount for the scholar's tuition fee which is being given directly to the school with the living allowance to the students. (PNA)
