P700M radial road to affect 15 lot owners, several households
Fifteen lot owners and several households will be affected as soon as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) begins construction of the P700 million radial road from Barangay Lanit, Jaro to the town of Zarraga.
Recently, DPWH officials led by District Eng. Manuel Ticao Jr. met with Mayor Jerry Treñas to discuss the possible dislocation of families whose houses are located along the road right-of-way. Also taken up during the meeting was the complaints raised by lot owners whose property would be affected by the new road.
Public works officials want to thresh out the problem with the intervention of the chief executive specifically on the compensation of the owners of property that will be affected by the project.
Treñas said the 20 kilometers national road project will serve as an alternative roadway from Jaro to the northern part of Iloilo. It will help decongest the traffic in the busy streets of Jaro district.
Treñas said the plan will connect the radial road to the circumferential road that will provide more access and mobility of people in the city and province of Iloilo and transport accessibility of vehicles from the provinces of Aklan, Capiz and northern Iloilo.
Treñas added the radial road will open new growth areas along the way. The area is a vast agricultural area and economic development is expected to follow along the main highway from Jaro to Zarraga, said Treñas.
