Capiz docs fail to 'reconnect' man's severed penis
Attending physicians in Roxas City, Province of Capiz were left with no recourse but to preserve a 40 year-old man's penis after efforts to 'reconnect' such failed yesterday.
Amidst emergency medical procedures, the man believed to be suffering from an undisclosed mental illness fought hard against any treatment.
The 40 year-old patient is a resident of Barangay Balatucan Panit-an with the incident treated as a suicide case. Local authorities were called in for help by family members who were then seen helpless and unable to help their visibly-distraught relative.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that family insiders began to notice the 40 year-old's strange behavior after arriving highly-intoxicated the previous evening.
He was heard lamenting his supposedly sad life while also talking to nobody in particular about a purported planned hit by unknown assailants.
Without any provocation, the 40 year-old suddenly lunged at an undisclosed 'weapon' then began to stab himself. Hurt and bloodied, the man proceeded to cut his penis as family members called for outside help.
The distraught man was first rushed to the Bailan District Hospital yet due to the severity of his injuries was transferred to the more equipped Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital.
Bombo Radyo Iloilo in a news follow-up said that the severed penis was left protected inside one of the hospital's freezers.
A nephew, Lemuel Dolfo told said radio station that the heightened anxiety of his uncle baffled the entire family. Dolfo can only shake his head when told of the now frozen dismembered and disconnected penis.
