Display of Philippine flag ordered
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas issued memorandum order 334-2008 directing all public and private establishments to display the Philippine flag in commemoration of the Independence Day on June 12th.
The directive covers all government and private offices, schools, businesses, building owners and operators enjoining them to display the nation's flag in front of their premises from May 26th to June 30th.
Treñas said this is the city's way of promoting patriotism necessary to create a responsible citizenry proud of their heritage.
Meanwhile, the city together with numerous government agencies and private groups are already at the peak of preparation for the 110th Independence Day celebration. The celebration will begin with a military parade and a civic parade that will include floats featuring important events leading to the country's independence.
The floats will be sponsored by various government and non-government agencies.
A short program where Treñas and provincial governor Neil Tupas, Sr. are expected to deliver speeches at the Freedom Grandstand is also slated.
“This year's celebration is a collaboration of numerous agencies, all committed at showing their sincerity in celebrating our rich history and culture. I am very happy with this group effort, and I would like to commend everyone who worked hard to ensure a smooth celebration," Treñas said. (PIO)
