While SB unanimously approves education assistance package
The Municipal Council of Barotac Nuevo passed a resolution endorsing the efforts of the Valera-Araneta Foundation Incorporation and expressing unanimous support.
Approved last week, the approval came after foundation president Eileen Zshornack-Araneta was allowed by the council to present its education assistance package.
The entire program for the five schools were extensively explained with program intervention works in barangays Baras, Palaciawan, Lanas, Guintas and Tinorian.
The municipal council headed by Vice Mayor Pedro Hautea was apprised of initial program success which Araneta said was measured in terms of academic test result scores.
Barotac Nuevo's present Year-end Achievement Test (YEAT) average is pegged at 76%.
“Whilst this is a significant jump from 57% in the previous year, it is still a far cry from outstanding. There is clearly much room for improvement," Araneta said.
Beneficiary-schools scored significant improvements in particular.
Baras Elementary School jumped from 65.94% in schoolyear 2006-2007 to 83.64% in 2007-2008. Palaciawan Primary School was 52.98% then and 74.17% now. Guintas Elementary School from 57.73% to 72.28%, Lanas Elementary School from 53.28% to 73.53% and Tinorian Elementary School's 68.12% to 80.18%.
