25 Capiceños beat CARP deadline
ROXAS CITY – Two days before the country's celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, more Capiceño beneficiaries have availed lands.
Information Officer Carlette Pretta of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Capiz disclosed that at the end of the program implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian reform Program (CARP), 25 more Capiceño farmer beneficiaries have been distributed lands.
Pretta said that DAR Capiz was able to distribute on June 10 some 42 hectares of land to the identified beneficiaries in Kinabkaban, Dao, Capiz under the CARP's land acquisition and distribution (LAD) component.
The land distribution of said office in the province here is part of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's directive to government officials for the delivery of programs and basic services down to the people in commemoration of the 110th Philippine Independence.
The President has ordered said officials to go down to the people and reach the masses and help improve the delivery of basic services, especially programs to mitigate hunger and poverty.
While Congress has not yet signed the Bill seeking for a five-year extension of CARP, Capiceños expressed confidence that Congress will heed President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's call for said extension. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
