CAPELCO receives electrification project subsidy
ROXAS CITY – A P6.5 - million electrification project subsidy was released to the Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO) for the electrification of six more sitios in the province.
The amount was released by the Department of Energy (DOE) through the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz.
The six sitios up for electrification are Sitio Bakung and Balaring in Ivisan town; Sitio Agkanumay and Liao in the Municipality of Sapian; and Sitio Nag-uylog and San Vicente in Jamindan town.
CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz said they have already energized all the province's 473 barangays and they are now concentrating on sitios.
"The barangay officials were already informed that they were recipients of this particular package from our government," he said.
According to Diaz, there are about 150 more sitios that need to be energized.
Also, the Antique Electric Cooperative (ANTECO) and Iloilo II Electric Cooperative (ILECO II) receive subsidy amount from the government.
The release of subsidies for DOE's energization projects is expected to boost the eight million Consumer Connection Program through the Rural Electrification Program being implemented by the NEA. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
