Job Fair in Badiangan town set
Job hunters in Badiangan and nearby municipalities need not go farther to seek for employment opportunities as the regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) based in this city has set a Job Fair at the town's plaza on June 18.
DOLE VI Information Officer Amalia Judicpa said around 450 job openings will be offered during the job fair with 250 estimated vacancies for service workers and 200 for skilled workers.
Eight companies, both domestic and overseas, have already signified their intention to participate in the job fair which is also in cooperation with the municipal government of Badiangan.
Judicpa said similar job fairs have already been conducted in other areas of Western Visayas such as in Iloilo City last June 7 and in Sagay, Negros Occidental last June 9 and 10 as part of the 110th Independence Day celebration.
A DOLE's Mega Jobs and Livelihood Fair is also being held at the Luneta Grandstand until June 12 offering a total of 15,000 local and overseas jobs.
As ordered by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, this year's celebration of Independence Day will focus on the government's programs and basic services designed "to bring the government closer to the people."
"Indeed, the active unity of our nation's social partners, particularly labor, employers and the government in facilitating opportunities and pushing back poverty, is a fitting way to celebrate our Independence Day," said Labor Secretary Marianito Roque in a Malacanang report. (PIA)
