The Peñas Affairs
Linda Hoblitzell with birthday celebrator
Cynthia Armada
Iloilo's power couple Judgee and Sarah Pena had been absent quite lately in Iloilo's social scenes because they're always in Manila to be near their three lovely daughters who were taking up their summer classes in Ateneo de Manila. Rita, the eldest, is a 3rd year law proper student and was doing her on-the-job training with one of the country's top law firms. Risa, the second daughter is a 3rd year Legal Management student while Rica the youngest, a student of Assumption Convent took a summer class in Ateneo in creative writing, which she passed with flying colors.
After the summer classes, the whole family was back here in Iloilo and stayed for one week only and they used their time well by giving three memorable affairs – a pre-birthday party celebration, an annual charity work and the blessing of the family's newly built residence center.
Seated are Judge Peña, Robert Uy and Dr. Luis Sorolla.
Standing are Suzy Facultad, Sarah Peña and Zennia Teruel
A Birthday for Cynthia
Los Angeles-based nurse Cynthia Armada has always been a good friend and charming host to the Peña family every time they come to visit the US. So, when she came over to visit her family and see the rest of the Philippines, the Peña family feted Cynthia with an intimate dinner party at their Ledesco home. They invited the close friends and acquaintances of the celebrator. It was a night of good food, good laughs and good company.
Balik Eskwela Outreach Program
Rita Fernandina Opolencia Peña or Rita for short, has always been a person who loves kids and is a strong believer of quality education. Thus, seven years ago, she put up her own Balik Eskwela Outreach Program which gives school supplies to underprivileged school children specifically in the village of Simon Ledesma, Jaro. Being a great granddaughter of Philippine Vice-President Fernando Lopez, it's in her blood to be of service to the poor. Last June 8, Rita fulfilled her annual mission by giving school supplies to almost 130 school children. She also served merienda to them and got to know her wards. The whole family was present to lend their support to Rita's personal cause.
RS Dormitory Blessing
Ribbon Cutting of RS Domitory
The ever entrepreneurial Judgee and Sarah were in their perfect forms when they opened their latest project, the RS DORMITORY located in Villa Arevalo. The two-storey 18-room edifice has a capacity of 108. This was designed by the famous Architect Nilo Moralidad and constructed by Engineer Roger Rosales. This project has always been a dream of Sarah and Judgee, not only for their business interest but also their way of providing students who are enrolled in the nearby maritime school with a decent, safe and affordable place to stay. Friends were invited to witness its ribbon cutting and blessing. A Merienda Cena followed and had everyone said their good byes to the two Peña daughters as they were going back to Manila the next day for school opening in Ateneo.
