Bubble Girls at Tawili
For most people, the month of May is time for real rest and vacation. But not for the young girls who attended a workshop at Tawili University Center.
Cooking was the fundamental topic. The workshop was in the participative mode. At the beginning, the girls conferred to plan for an activity by which their products will be made useful. A party was identified as an option. With that, all the party essentials were considered. During the planning session, the girls decided to have a theme for the party, so they can streamline the food preparations. Guided by mentors, they came up with sessions on party organizations, productions of invitations and souvenirs, video and picture taking, table skirting and table napkin folding and physical arrangement fitted for the theme. There was allotted time to test run the recipes the girls have chosen to serve. It was also an opportunity for them to standardize the recipe according to their taste.
The real fun came during the culminating day. They were able to share the products of their efforts with frieds, guests and relatives. During the whole term, the dynamics of good work, services, moral values and spiritual dimensions were cited.
From the workshop, the girls and mentors swapped experiences and knowledge. The age gap didn't matter to forge friendship and understanding. The "Bubble Girls" (based on the theme of the party), as they call themselves, has committed to become adult leaders for the forthcoming activities of the club.
