Brisk businesses
Businesses of water refilling stations, pawnshops and auto repair shops are very brisk these days. As water supply has been affected by the typhoon people especially in the flood-devastated areas in Jaro, Mandurriao and Lapaz resort in buying water from refilling stations. Consequently, water refilling stations jack up their prices from the prevailing 15 to 25 pesos before the typhoon water refilling is now priced at 45 and others even sell at 50 pesos. Aside from water refilling stations, pawnshops in the city are also full of people lining up to have their valuables assessed then pawned. People bring their wrist watches, necklaces, bracelets, cellphones, etc. to the pawnshop to turn them into money. These people are in dire need of money as they either lost their houses or their family members. Auto repair shops on the other hand are busy cleaning up and repairing vehicles that were covered by flood water.
Finger-pointing
Government officials are at it again, finger pointing on who should be blamed for the sinking of Sulpicio Lines vessel Princess of the Stars. More than 700 passengers are feared dead in the tragedy. Indeed, concerned officials at Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) and Coast Guard don't learn from their mistakes. Mga inutil!
