Bacolod will send aid to Iloilo's flood victims
BACOLOD CITY -- The city government of Bacolod will soon send assistance either in a form of money or relief goods to flood victims of Iloilo, said Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.
They said that since Iloilo is a neighbor, "it is our moral obligation to help in whatever we can."
They will have to decide whether it's in a form of financial assistance or relief assistance.
Leonardia said that during the Guimaras oil spill, Bacolod City also assisted the province of Guimaras.
"We need to help each other being neighbors. Bacolod is better off because we are the only province with less damage by typhoon Frank," Leonardia said.
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by Mr. Jet Lee and Teofilo Ponce also set aside relief assistance to 300 families in the City of Bacolod whose houses were either partially or totally destroyed by typhoon Frank.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has already passed a resolution declaring 34 barangays in the city under a state of calamity.
