Leonardia set to ink deal acquiring new dumpsite property
BACOLOD CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) expressed confidence that City Mayor Evelio Leonardia would sign the deal for the acquisition of the seven hectares property at Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City in the amount of P23 million.
The property would be used as a solid waste management facility.
Mayor Leonardia, who just arrived last week from the United States, was authorized by the city council to sign the Deed of Conditional Sale in behalf of the City with the representative of Dynasty Agricultural Corporation, the owner of the property.
Leonardia, in an interview with The News Today – Bacolod, said he would sign the agreement soon considering that it was comprehensively deliberated by the SP during their regular session.
Leonardia cited the need to to purchase the said property so the city could comply with the Republic Act 9009 otherwise known as the Solid Waste Management Act.
Meanwhile, City Councilor Greg Gasataya said that the price of the property is reasonable as it is based on the valuation of the City Assessment Committee headed by Atty. Maphilindo Polvora.
Besides, he said, the property to be purchased is not an existing dumpsite but an adjacent property owned by Lopez Family of Dynasty Agricultural Corporation.
Gasataya said the zonal valuation stands at P400 per square meter or a total of P23 million if the 70,000 square meters will be purchased at 360 pesos.
