'Mamang Pulis' now showing at Capiz PNP stations
ROXAS CITY – New Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) Officer-In-Charge Provincial Director Senior Supt. Josephus Angan has enjoined all policemen in the province to internalize and practice the "Mamang Pulis" concept in carrying out their respective daily duties and responsibilities.
The concept is a component of the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Integrated Transformation Program (ITP) which calls for policemen to be dependable, approachable, presentable, humane and God-fearing.
It was launched by PNP Chief Director General Chief Supt. Avelino Razon to move forward the PNP organization as it continues to regain the respect of the people and the community it has sworn to serve and protect.
Razon wants "Mamang Pulis" to be loved by the people instead of being feared by the citizenry.
The PNP's transformation program also puts emphasis on the cops presence and visibility daily that could readily respond for assistance when needed.
Police Regional Office (PRO) – 6 Director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas thus stressed the importance of a daily duty for policemen in his message during the recent CPPO turnover of command ceremony at Camp Teodorico Apil here.
"All must cooperate and obey to the program because it is legal and in no way a violation to existing Civil Service Commission (CSC) policies and the PNP Act ," Cuevas said.
The daily three-shift duty, also called 7-9-7, aims to ensure a strong force in various police stations.
With the 7-9-7 scheme, the first shift will start at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.; second shift at 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and the last shift will be from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following day.
Cuevas said they would still continue to avail of their one-day off as mandated by the law. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
