Who's fault?
Most people would say that if someone suffers from sickness, disease or downfall in life, this would mean that God punishes him or her. It is always in the conclusion that, God gives such things so that He will be remembered.
When I was young, I used to believe in that hearsay. I have my own stories of sacrifices and trials and I too, would always sit down and think that God indeed gave me such so that I'll be able to strengthen my faith in Him. This is my weapon line before as I experienced troubles and difficulties in dealing with my life.
Time passed by and as I aged and be able to gain wisdom, I realized that God loves us unconditionally. In other words, we cannot blame Him for whatever difficulties we encounter as we go on with our journey here on earth. How can He give a sickness or a disease to a person if indeed He loves us? How can He give calamities like typhoon, flood and earthquake if He really cares for us? He is always in blame for all the things we are having. And as I've said, most of us believe that He gave these things for us to remember Him and to deepen our faith in Him.
He is a God, a good and loving God. Do you think He would give us all these so that we will suffer? Do you think it is a form of punishment to all of us? Do you think these things are his ways so that He will be remembered as a powerful one and the one who created this earth? If He is a good God how come he punishes us? If He is the one responsible for the flood that killed hundreds of lives, do you think He is good in that sense? If indeed He is a good God He would not make anything that could harm his creations. And do you think He would be happy seeing people dying caused by flood or by an earthquake?
Let us remember Genesis, it is clearly stated that God created the earth in six days. He filled the earth with his masterpieces including human whom he created in His own image and likeness. He made humans to rule and to take care of his other creations that live on water and on land. But when the very first couple disobeyed God by eating a fruit from the tree of knowledge tempted by a serpent, God made them realize many things. The word punish was not evident in Genesis, however God let Adam and Eve discover and realize the mistakes they did. If God had the mistake of creating them, by that time, He has the capacity and will to undo what He has done and make another first couple who will not disobey Him. But He is a good God, He just made the couple realize the wrong thing they've done and the rest was to face the consequences that awaited them.
In that line alone, it is us who made mistakes, it is not our Redeemer. It is us who are capable of doing things beyond His control. Sometimes, we act as a playing god in the community we belong which is not suppose to be. Thus, whatever is the result of what we have done, it is us who will face the consequences. In other words, let us not drag the name of God in the sufferings that we encountered and we will be encountering in the future. When he bestowed his creations to us, it simply means that we have the dominion to rule the earth He created. We are stewards of His masterpieces but in the end, we are the agents of all the destructions and failures and the worst, most of us blame Him in whatever sufferings we encounter. I do believe that God would not make anything that would create major destruction in the earth that He created. It is us who are to be blamed.
Let us ponder on these things. Let us be aware of what words overflow in our mouths. Before we say things about trials and challenges, let us think logically about our role why such things happen.
If God wanted us to realize something, let's accept it with open hands and if worse comes to worst, let's accept that – it is us to be blamed and not Him. Moreover, let us not wait for bad things to happen to remember His presence and His value in our lives. We deepen our faith not only in times of crisis but from the start we know Him until we face Him in heaven.
