BANEG denies issuing statement against city gov't
BACOLOD CITY -- Bacolod-Negros Occidental (BANEG) Softball League denied news reports from a national newspaper that they issued a statement that the city government of Bacolod did not extend financial assistance to them during their last competition in China.
BANEG Coach Antonio Oquindo said not a single media from Manila interviewed them.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia suspected that there are people from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) who want to discredit Bacolod City in exchange of some political influence.
The BANEG Team gathered yesterday at Bacolod City Hall to rectify the report.
On the other hand, Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Homer Bais passed a resolution yesterday asking PSC Commissioner Eric Loretizo to submit the names of those part of the delegation to China whom he considered as "tourists".
Loretizo in earlier media interviews in Manila, mentioned that some delegates were not legitimate Bacolod contingents but their names were inserted to appear as representatives of our country in China. The SP member awaits the list of delegates from Commissioner Loretizo.
