Tanco is UP presidential centennial awardee
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr., was conferred as one of the presidential centennial awardees of the University of the Philippines during the Alumni and Faculty Homecoming held at Iloilo Grand Hotel last July 26.
The Capiz governor is currently the president of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association Capiz Chapter (UPAA-Capiz) for 2008-2010.
Other UPAA-Capiz officers are: Prosecutor Roldulfo I. Beluso, vice president; Salim Bernales Biclar, Secretary; Raquel Villamor Corros, treasurer; Jose Brotarlo, Jr. P.R.O. Board of Directors are: Judge Edward Contreras, Dr. Edgar Dilla, S.B. Carla Bolano Abela, Genevie Mabasa Alcazar, Gina Regalado, Lynna Joy Limbana Antonio, Lina Eudela Desales, Diorelyn Palomar Menez, Diva Balcena Tarrosa and Ritz Evengelista Delatina.
Tanco finished his elementary from Iloilo American School in 1957, high school from UP Iloilo in 1961, and earned his college degree from UP Diliman with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
The governor had been municipal councilor in Dumarao from 1971 to 1980 and became mayor of the same town from 1980 to 1998. Before he became governor, he had been vice governor from 1998 to 2004.
