PRO 6 nets 197 druggies in WV
Widened campaign of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 against illegal drug trade in Western Visayas netted major arrests of suspected drug personalities.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that a total of 197 apprehensions were made in a span of six months alone. Said accomplishment covered the period of January to June of this year.
Of the 197 arrested, corresponding drug cases were filed against 140, the figure a considerable increase from previous years. 113 here were results of buy-bust vis a vis drug-bust police operations.
2006 accomplishment of the same period showed arrest of 149 with cases filed against 103 suspects.
Records further showed that most number of arrests were realized by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 58 on record. Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) ranked second with 50 arrests, 33 in Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) and 13 by the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO).
Meantime, a total of 12 suspects were arrested by police elements in Capiz and nine each by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Regional Anti-illegal Drug Special Operations Group (RAIDSOG). Antique Provincial Police Office for its part had four arrests on record while two from the Province of Aklan.
Records also showed 101.710 grams of 'Shabu,' otherwise known as "poor man's cocaine" were confiscated and 671.026 grams of marijuana. Total estimated value for said confiscation was placed at P534, 775.
Other recoveries were P135, 000 on 'drug money,' four short firearms, five motorcycles and one one high-powered firearm.
PRO 6 Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, PRO6 director credited the accomplishment to the strengthened and widened anti-drug drive of authorities.
