YES Club: 'Soon to Open'
(Last of two parts)
On its launching this Saturday, YES Club invites the Philippine National Red Cross to hold a 'Pep Talk' on the procedures, terms, conditions, do's and don't's in donating blood. This is in preparation for the upcoming blood letting activity for the residents of Brgy Gines.
The highlight of the launching is the induction of officers, whose terms of office are set for two years. They are: Jhally Queen Silvela as President, Sherry Mae Sumbo as Vice President, Kristine Mae Braga as Secretary, Tarafoncia Marie Sustiguer as Treasurer, Peter Solano as Business Manager, and Karl Justinn Sumbo as Public Relations Officer.
The Mayor of Zarraga, Honorable Gregorio Brazas, will be the Inducting Officer and Guest Speaker.
The officers of the YES Club are faced with great challenges. They will be leading an organization, which is not only neophyte but also without financial resources.
Yes, I am taking the risk of launching the YES Club despite this predicament. What propelled me to pursue the plan are the enthusiasm and the spirit of volunteerism igniting… manifesting among the members. They are ready to take accountability of the results of the activities. And, as an organizer, I cannot let go that opportunity.
As we prepare for this Saturday's activity, I have to shell out from own pockets the needed budget. It is inevitable. I want to instill in our members that we must not live by 'solicitation', a practice so common in other organizations – of the youth or otherwise. I want the YES Club members to be creative, innovative, resourceful, and productive. I want them to unleash their bright ideas that 'sell'.
Following the launching of YES Club, I am expecting the members to spearhead series of activities that will eventually raise funds for the Club.
Initially, the YES Club President is proposing to host a leadership skills enhancement seminar-workshop on October. The activity is intended to develop the skills and potentials of youth leaders not only in Zarraga but also in other towns in Second District.
For the meantime, however, the Club is focused with its activities this Saturday. Everyone is excited and worked overtime to set everything in place. And as I monitor the progress of their respective tasks, I am confident that YES Club can bring about quality leaders.
Be part of the history. Witness the launching of YES Club this Saturday!
