Capelco: Reconnection of power is for free
ROXAS CITY – The management of Capiz Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Capelco) strongly denied that they are collecting payments for the reconnection of clients whose power connection were destroyed by the recent typhoon.
General Manager Edgar Diaz told The News Today that he issued a memorandum to all linemen and employees that all services and materials for the restoration of power lines of customers are free of charge.
Diaz's pronouncement came in the wake of reports that there are electricians who collect P500 from customers who want their lines immediately restored.
Diaz said typhoon Frank damaged Capelco lines in the amount of P19 million pesos. The National Electrification Administration (NEA) released the amount of P17 million for its rehabilitation.
To note, it took Capelco one month to fully restore its power.
Meanwhile, Diaz said Capelco is now implementing the P500 subsidy from the national government to their 70,000 member-consumers.
Residential consumers who consume from 100 kwh down to zero could avail of the subsidy. He said that it will cost P36 million.
Diaz also invited all consumers to attend the 33rd general assembly meeting on August 23 at the Villareal Stadium. Guest speaker will be Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. while the Capelco will hold a raffle among member-consumers and awarding to the BAPA.
