City dads to start probe on financial aid, payroll padding scams today
ROXAS CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod committee of the whole will start its investigation today on the alleged financial aid and payroll padding anomalies by inviting three department heads who approved the disbursement documents.
The committee led by City Councilor Erwin Sicad will invite City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cynthia Besana, City Treasurer Joselito Almodiente and City Accountant Teresita Bediones to shed light on the alleged scam.
Earlier, 1st District Representative Antonio del Rosario wrote a letter to the city council through Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas that he is willing to submit himself for an investigation to clear his name.
To recall, Del Rosario said that he wanted to clear his name on the issue since the alleged scam was linked to the killing of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN)-DYVR anchorman Martin Roxas.
Roxas was gunned down last August 8 by two motorcycle-riding suspects at around 1:20 p.m. along Bayot Drive, Roxas City. He just finished his radio program "Targetanay sa Udto" at RMN-DYVR and about to go home for lunch when the crime happened.
The alleged financial aid and payroll scam were among the issues tackled by Roxas in his radio program.
Murder charges were already filed against suspects Jonel Lastimoso and Christian Tan for the killing of Roxas.
Police, however, have yet to identified the mastermind behind the crime.
