Slain broadcaster to be buried Aug. 24
ROXAS City – Murdered Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) dyVR anchorman Martin Roxas will be finally laid to rest on Sunday, August 24, at around 2 p.m. in the public cemetery of Maayon, Capiz.
Mr. Ely Abarra, station manager of RMN-Roxas, said the necrological service will start 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
Several media organizations, both print and broadcast, coming from other places especially from Manila are expected to cover Roxas' burial.
Roxas was gunned down last August 8 by two motorcycle-riding suspects along Bayot Drive while he was about to go home for lunch after his radio program “Targetanay sa udto”.
Jonel Lastimoso and Christian Tan were arrested when the police conducted a check point in Ivisan, Capiz one hour after the incident. Murder cases had already been filed by the police against the suspects.
Capiz and Roxas City legislators manifested their sympathy to Roxas' bereaved family and condemned the senseless killing of the broadcaster.
Earlier, Abarra told The News Today that somebody with a female voice called up their station warning them that two broadcasters are still up to be killed, one from their station and the other one from dyOW Bombo Radyo.
Both local radio stations tackle hot issues concerning graft and corruption in the government.
